Sony has announced the titles joining the Game Catalog for PlayStation Extra and Premium this month. Starting January 17th, subscribers will have access to Back 4 Blood on PS4 and PS5, Dragon Ball FighterZ on PS4, and Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition on PS5 (along with Devil May Cry 5 on PS4).

But that’s not all. Life is Strange and Life is Strange: Before the Storm on PS4 is coming along with Sayonara Wild Hearts. Jett: The Far Shore, which receives a free campaign in “Given Time” this year, will be playable on PS4 and PS5. Those seeking open-world chaos can check out Just Cause 4 on PS4 and Just Cause 4: Reloaded on PS4 and PS5.

Emotional adventure game Omno and FMV thriller Erica round out the remaining PS4 titles. As for PlayStation Plus Premium Classics, there’s the addition of Syphon Filter 3, Star Wars Demolition and Hot Shots Golf 2 on PlayStation One. As the long-awaited follow-up to Devil May Cry 4, Devil May Cry 5 sees Nero returning to the forefront, battling a mysterious new enemy in Red Grave City. Along with the Blue Rose and Red Queen, Nero has the Devil Breaker, a set of mechanical arms with different abilities. He can grapple foes, fire lasers, and much more.

It’s not long before Dante joins the party, wielding classic abilities and new weapons (including a wicked motorcycle). The two are joined by a brand new character, V, who can summon familiars to fight for him. Devil May Cry 5 is available for Xbox One, PS4, PC and Amazon Luna. Its Special Edition launched for Xbox Series X/S and PS5 in November 2022, adding a new playable character, Turbo Mode, and much more.

It feels almost hard to believe that the Devil May Cry series is, in fact, very much back. The latest entry, Devil May Cry 5, is old school in both its approach as well as its structure to old school action titles. It’s now time for the Special Edition release that sees added content and, of course, more action. This time around, the series also got a lot of dedicated music, with another music video from Japanese artist HYDE.

This is actually the second video from HYDE, and you can see the first one through here. That one focused on Vergil while this one is more about general mayhem  from the game with lots of footage from in-game as well as cutscenes. It also includes the lyrics to the song, too, which is… well, it’s something alright.

Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition is available now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Those who own the vanilla version of the game will also be able to get all of the Vergil content December 15th.

Capcom has provided fresh sales numbers for its best-selling titles, which reflects the total units sold as of September 30th 2020. Monster Hunter World: Iceborne continues to do well at 6.6 million sales with 800,000 units sold since June 30th. Resident Evil 7: biohazard hit a whopping 8.3 million sales with 400,000 units sold since June 30th, making it the highest-selling title in the franchise yet.

Of course, the base Monster Hunter World experience continues to dominate with 16.4 million units sold thus far. Of that total, a respectable 300,000 were sold since June 30th. Remakes for Resident Evil 2 and Resident 3 also 300,000 units each since the same date with their lifetime sales at 7.5 million and 3 million respectively.

Devil May Cry 5 has sold 3.9 million units since launching last year with 200,000 units sold since June 30th. With Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition available for Xbox Series X/S and coming today for PS5, expect that number to go up. Among the many titles coming to Xbox Series X/S and PS5 at launch is Capcom’s Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition. It’s packed full of new modes and features, prominent among them being Vergil who’s now playable. Check out his various moves in the trailer below. Beware though – there are other potential spoilers for those who haven’t played the game.

Of course, that’s not all one can expect as the Special Edition introduces Turbo Mode and Legendary Dark Knight Mode. The former increases the game’s speed for even more frantic action while the latter ups the enemy count tenfold. Along with 120 frames per second support, players can also expect ray-tracing to be implemented (though Xbox Series X players will have to wait for it to arrive in a post-launch update).

Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition is out digitally on Xbox Series X/S tomorrow while PS5 gets it on November 12th. A physical version launches on December 1st while Vergil will be available as $5 DLC for Xbox One, PS4 and PC owners on December 15th. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.

For a good while there, it seemed as if the Devil May Cry series was no longer with us. After an attempted western-focused reboot, DmC: Devil May Cry, didn’t quite do what publisher Capcom had hoped, the general thought was that the series had slayed its last demon. Thankfully, last year it came roaring back with Devil May Cry 5, a game that returned to the original, pre-reboot canon. It was a major success, and now it’s time for the Special Edition release with a certain classic character as its star.

A new music trailer was release that featured the Japanese musician HYDE. One of the biggest new features of Special Edition is the ability to play as series mainstay Vergil (who will also be available to purchase for those who own the vanilla version of the game). He’s basically the star here as the trailer focuses heavily on both his gameplay as well as him in some cutscenes. Check it out below.

New PS5 gameplay footage for Capcom’s Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition has begun circulating courtesy of various publications and it’s all focused on Vergil. The newest playable character is showcased with his various weapons – including the Beowulf and Miracle Edge (aka Force Edge). Check out Game Informer’s coverage below.

Vergil’s moves are a thing to behold, especially when unleashing his Devil Trigger to summon a doppelganger to tear through foes. But his core gimmick is the Concentration Bar, which fills when standing still or walking. This will allow for unleashing unique attacks as it fills up – taking damage or running reduces it. As such, you’re encouraged to be methodical and precise as Vergil.

Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition is out on November 10th for Xbox Series X/S and November 12th for PS5. Along with Vergil, it offers several unique features like Legendary Dark Knight Mode for upping the number of enemies, 120 FPS support and ray-tracing. Ray-tracing will be exclusive to the PS5 version at launch and arriving later for Xbox Series X.

The first foray into next gen for the Devil May Cry series will be the familiar Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition. An enhanced re-release of the game from last year, it will add a few key features to the action-packed title. Probably the biggest selling point will be the addition of Vergil, the franchise’s signature sort of antagonist, sort of anti-hero (though don’t worry, current gen owners of the vanilla release can still get him). Today we got a look, a very brief one, at some of his arsenal.

On an episode of a Real eSports News, we got to see a look at Vergil gameplay from Special Edition. As mentioned, it’s very brief, but you can clearly see him using his Beowulf gauntlets, which fans of the series will be familiar with, and switching to some sword attacks. It’s unclear if that will be his entire arsenal and this obviously isn’t an extensive look (thanks to DMCInfo on Twitter for providing the exact clip).

Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition will release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S at each system’s respective launch with a physical release set to come December 1st. It will also feature a lot of different graphic options, which you can read more about through here.

On the latest episode of ReAL eSports News, a short clip of Vergil gameplay was shown as a teaser for the next episode. The clip features Beowulf gameplay and seems to show a Spectral Force Edge (?) when weapon switching.

When Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition launches not long from now, it’ll also be bringing plenty of completely new content, from a new Turbo mode to the Legendary Dark Knight difficulty. The most notable addition, however, is Vergil, who will be a playable character across the campaign, the Bloody Palace, and the Void.

Vergil won’t be exclusive to next-gen, however. It will be added to the game on PS4, Xbox One, and PC as DLC as well, and now, Capcom have confirmed exactly when that will happen- on December 15, a little over a month after Special Edition’s launch. It will cost $4.99 / €4.99 / £3.99.

Devil May Cry 5 is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, while Special Edition will be a launch title for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in November. Capcom doesn’t have any plans to bring it to PC.

In addition to the new content, Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition will also feature 3D audio, faster load times, higher frame rates, and ray tracing. Ray tracing will be coming to Xbox Series X in a post-launch update, but won’t be available on Xbox Series S.

Capcom recently revealed the several graphical options that will be available to players in Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition when it launches on next-gen consoles next month. Both the PS5 and Xbox Series X will offer up to 120 FPS gameplay, but those looking for sharper visuals, you can play at either 4K/30 FPS or 1080p/60 FPS with ray tracing enabled (ray tracing will become available on the Xbox Series X in a post-launch update).

Of course, that still leaves the question of what players can expect from the game on the Xbox Series S. In a recent update, Capcom clarified that though Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition on the Xbox Series S will have several enhancements – including faster load times, spatial audio, up to 120 FPS gameplay, and all the new content – ray tracing won’t be one of them. That feature will be restricted to the Xbox Series X and PS5.

Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition is out for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on November 10 and for PS5 on November 12. Capcom currently seem to have no plans to bring it to PC.
