The ESA is choosing to focus its limited resources into making next year's event a grand comeback for the long-running trade show.
Though a May showcase could happen, GamesBeat's Jeff Grubb reports that the company is "talking to partners to get big games" for a show in June.
Insider Tom Henderson reports that the ESRB has sent out emails to developers informing them of the same. An announcement is expected "soon."
The ESA had previously confirmed that plans for an in-person E3 2022 had been cancelled due to COVID concerns, but a digital event might not replace it either.
