Ten Franchises That Need To Die Or Take A Break

Uncharted

Uncharted is one of the best gaming franchises around these days, and all 4 Uncharted games released so far has been awesome. But much like most of the other franchises on this list, Uncharted has fallen in line with a formula and has been following that for some time now. Each new game is genuinely awesome and better than the last, and no way in hell would we want the franchise to end, but maybe Naughty Dog should take a break now. Focus on other new IPS, build The Last of Us’ strength, think of some new ideas for UC4 and release it next gen for the PS4, two or three years from now.

Forza Motorsport

Forza is an awesome franchise, but franchise fatigue is starting to set in now. We loved Forza Motorsport 4, but we couldn’t help but notice how similar it was to Forza 3. It’s falling into the same trap that Gran Turismo did, and is taking it a bit too far. While we do want to see more Forza games in the future, we think the franchise has gotten a little stale now, and it needs to take a break for the next few years, sort things out, decide what to do next that will set it apart from other similar games, and then come back to life with a fresh new perspective.

FIFA

I know it’s kind of stupid for us to hope that an annual sports franchise- by EA, no less- should go on a hiatus, but here you are. FIFA has been an awesome franchise for the past many years, and FIFA 10 and FIFA 12 both changed the way we played the game drastically, but I think EA Sports is starting to run out of ideas. maybe taking a break and giving players some breathing time, and then releasing a new FIFA game with new features would compel people to buy the new game. But that’s probably not gonna happen, so never mind my babbling.
