Indie Development Talent
Though Sony have revealed their naked efforts to attract indie development talent, they’re not the only ones appealing to independent studios. Though it’s a more behind-the-scenes effort, Nintendo have made great strides to help get indie games produced and noticed on the Wii U eShop. Already we have Chasing Aurora, Trine 2 and the awesome Little Inferno and, with Nintendo recently appealing to iOS developers, we could have many more games like it on Wii U in the future.
Nintendo Always Turn the Tables Around
The N64, Gamecube, Wii, DS and 3DS have all gone through the same phases as the Wii U will. At first there is hype with a disappointing and damning reception. The next stage comes in initial sales boosts from core Nintendo franchises, then, finally noticing increased system adoption, practically every major developer under the sun jumps on board. If it’s happened for them five times before, who are we to say it won’t happen again?
It’s Not As Underpowered As They Say
A lot has been made of the Wii U’s comparatively lacklustre hardware, but the processing power of Nintendo’s new home console isn’t as bad as it seems. Sure, the games available right now aren’t the prettiest of things, but neither were launch titles on the PS3. It was only when developers learnt to harness the Xbox 360 and PS3’s potential that we got some of this generation’s best looking games, so we can’t count the Wii U out just yet on the graphical front. Give it time.
