Titanfall will soon be made available to PC players as part of EA’s Origin Access’ vault service, which is the PC equivalent of the EA Access service that they offer on Xbox One. This move will effectively make the game free to download and play, without restrictions of any kind in place, to all subscribers of Origin Access.
Titanfall launched in 2014 on the Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC. The game was widely expected to be the next major revolution for the shooter genre, like Halo, Gears of War, and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare before it. However, upon the game’s launch, it met with an admittedly high level of critical praise, though player engagement and word of mouth for the game died out pretty fast.
Subsequent promotions by EA, where the game was offered for cheaper prices, ended up boosting the game’s sales, making it one of the most successful games of the generation so far. Certainly, its emphasis on mobility during action has been widely aped by other franchises too. A sequel to the game is also expected later this year.
