The hype is real. People where skeptical when Nintendo announced Amiibo, but almost a year later, Amiibos are still flying off the shelves. While not your typical accessory, these figures can be tapped on the Wii U gamepad and 3DS screen to unlock fun new content in Nintendo games. While it may just seem like a Nintendo has invented the first physical DLC, the fact that there are now licensed Nintendo figures that also have uses in games makes all of that unimportant. Some of the extra content, like having a genius AI that you trained to fight against in Smash Bros. is incredibly unique and adds a lot to the experience. While some of them are hard to obtain, it’s fun to track down these elusive toys and build up a colorful collection.
