#7. MASS EFFECT 2
BioWare had already taken the industry by storm with the first Mass Effect, a game that wowed one and all with its imaginative and engrossing universe, characters, and story, and the task of topping its accomplishments with a sequel was by no means an enviable one. And yet, BioWare did it effortlessly. Mass Effect 2 knew exactly what it needed to retain from its predecessor, what it needed to shed, and what it needed to improve upon to deliver an experience we would never forget. With significantly improved combat, a cast of characters that will forever hold a place in our hearts, a litany of tough choices that led to some truly unpredictable consequences, a spectacular concluding act, and a laundry list of a ton of other impressive accomplishments, Mass Effect 2 was a game that was perfect in nearly every way. No, it wasn’t literally perfect, but its flaws felt insignificant and minuscule when weighed against the positives. It remains, to this day, BioWare’s best game ever, one of the greatest role playing games of all time, and of course, among the very best games ever made.
