Turn 10: Forza 5 Is The Hardest Thing We’ve Ever Done; Xbox Cloud Offers 600% More Resources for AI

Definitely among the most anticipated exclusives across either the PlayStation 4 or the Xbox One, Turn 10’s Forza Motorsport 5, the fifth numbered entry in the critically acclaimed racing sim franchise, is apparently the venerable studio’s hardest project yet. A lot of that has to do with them taking it upon themselves to show off just what the Xbox One can do.

The other part of the challenge comes from this being the most ambitious game that Turn 10 has ever done, on all new hardware, at the launch of said hardware. It is “a massive game, a quality game, an innovative game. At launch of the console. It’s crazy hard. It’s the hardest thing we’ve ever done. But it’s exciting, we’re having fun, but it’s a huge challenge,” says the studio, reports OXM.

Turn 10 also talked about the console’s must touted cloud capabilities, and how they were helping with this game’s development.

“When you’ve got a learning neural network, more computing power is nothing but helpful. Because what you’re able to do is process a lot more information, and you don’t have to do it in realtime on the box. And that frees up more of the box to be doing graphics or audio or other computational areas.

“So we can now make our AI instead of just being 20%, 10% of the box’s capability, we can make it 600% of the box’s capability. Put it in the cloud and free up that 10% or 20% to make the graphics better – on a box that’s already more powerful than we worked on before.”

I mean, that sounds a whole lot like hyperbole, especially considering Forza 5 can be played offline, implying that the game can’t be programmed with the ‘600% AI capabilities’ as a default to begin with.

Anyway, Forza 5 is an Xbox One exclusive launch title that hits stores later this year. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more coverage.
