A fully next gen console for a shockingly cheap price.

Although it has often been available to pick up for much cheaper over the last year or so, thanks to some excellent bundles, and retailer specific deals, Microsoft has now gone ahead and dropped the price of the Xbox One to £299 officially in the UK. This is a dramatic reduction in price for a console that initially cost £429 when it originally launched less than eighteen months ago.

Other stores in the UK have taken the cue from Microsoft, and are now offering the console at even cheaper, far more ridiculous prices. it is £288.75 on Amazon, while GameStop is offering it for a stupidly cheap £279.97.

So that’s a hell of an aggressive price drop, and it should definitely help push more people towards the console, while also making it easier for people who were on the fence to just go and get one already.

Whether or not this actually ends up spurring sales, however, is something we’ll have to wait and watch in the long run.
