XCOM 2

Okay, these aren’t cheat codes as much as it is you outright editing and modifying game files to get the results you want, but- if you’ve completed XCOM 2, and just want to mess about with it now, or if you’re finding it far too difficult to play it within the usual parameters, experimenting with these may not be a bad idea.

To perform any of these cheats, you must do the following, however:

  • Find the file in question for each of these ‘cheats’;
  • Right click on it, and open it with Notepad;
  • Replace the relevant text/value with the given ones

Warning! Using any of these ‘cheats’ is you fundamentally altering your game data files in a way that is not officially supported. Doing so may cause your game data to become corrupted, or to act in other unpredictable ways. GamingBolt does not endorse any of the tips and suggestions provided below, and only includes them here for reference. Always back up your game data before attempting to alter its files.

Increasing Squad Size:

File: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\XCOM 2\XComGame\Config\DefaultGameData.ini

Find MaxSoldiersOnMission. Change the value to whatever number you like. The game’s UI supports a maximum of 8 soldiers, but you can have as many as you want, really.

Lowering Enemy HP:

File: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\XCOM 2\XComGame\Config\DefaultGameData_CharacterStats.ini

Search for ‘AdvCaptainM1’ to alter game difficulty. Search for ‘CharacterBaseStats[eStat_HP]’ to reduce enemy HP- you can also alter their other stats this way.

Changing Grenade Radius:

File: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\XCOM 2\XComGame\Config\DefaultGameData_WeaponData.ini

Alter the FragGrenade_Radius value.

Change Number Of Enemies In Missions:

File: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\XCOM 2\XComGame\Config\DefaultMissions.ini

Find ADVENT ENCOUNTER DEFS FOR, then ConfigurableEncounters, and finally, MaxSpawnCount; once here, increase (or decrease) enemy count number.

Change Movement Speed While Carrying:

File: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\XCOM 2\XComGame\Config\DefaultGameCore.ini.

Find CARRY_UNIT_MOBILITY_ADJUST, and then change the value- you can make your units slower when they are carrying another one, or even speed them up, should you want to.

Powerful Weapon Attachments:

Open ‘DefaultGameCore.ini’ and find ‘XComGame.X2Item_DefaultUpgrades’

Changing ‘FREE_KILL_BSC’ as needed. For example, changing it 80 will ensure there is a 80% chance to hit the enemy. You can also change ‘FREE_RELOADS_BSC’ to 0. This will remove autoloader restrictions.
