9 Games that need to be remade on the Xbox 360

Posted By | On 28th, Feb. 2010

Folks we are in the seventh generation of gaming and are being blown away by the power of Xbox 360.  Many people (including us) are amazed at the technology powering the console. All of us who have bought the Xbox 360 must have bought many blockbuster games along with it like Gears of War, Halo 3 and the more recent Mass Effect 2. But there are many great games which we have played last generation (and in previous ones too) and we are forced to wonder if we will ever get to play them with next generation graphics and game play. We decide to list those games which should be remade on the Xbox 360.

Note: This is the best list we came up with. There are so many games out there and if you’re favorite game was not mentioned here, you can always point them out in the comment section.

Beyond Good and Evil

Platform: Xbox, PS2, PC and GameCube
Year of release: 200
3

Beyond Good and Evil is one of the rare games that does not only need to be remade for the Xbox 360, but it’s a game that truly deserves a sequel as well. If the recent news of the sequel getting canned is to be believed then the best option for the developers would be to remake this game for the 360. One of the major reasons GB believes the sequel was cancelled for was that the original did not sell well and in fact Laurent Detoc (CEO of Ubisoft America) claimed that the game was one of his worst business decisions; having said that, a remake of the original won’t hurt since there are tons of fans out there who would love to play the game in HD.

Psychonauts

Platform: Xbox, PS2 and PC
Year of release: 2005

Easily one of the best, if not the best platformer on the original Xbox, Psychonauts is a gem of game which I believe many gamers have probably forgotten about. The game was way ahead of its time as far as its visuals go and had unique characters, hilarious dialogue, and brilliantly designed levels and environments. Psychonauts if remade for the Xbox 360 could possibly be the best platformer on the console just like what Ratchet and Clank is to the PlayStation 3.

Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge

Platform: Xbox
Year of release: 2003

Just like Beyond Good and Evil, Crimson Skies was critically acclaimed but did not sell enough. One of the catch points of the game was the open ended mission structure, amazing explosions, game’s audio, strong voice acting and some stunning plane models. Considering that there is no Ace Combat in sight for more than two years, a remake of Crimson Skies could be just what an Xbox 360 owner would want.

Jade Empire

Platform: Xbox and PC
Year of release: 2005

When you have the caliber and the talent of Bioware powering Jade Empire, what could possibly go wrong? The game was not only the best role playing action that the original Xbox had but actually redefined the genre with some amazing depth and challenge. I know Bioware have probably ditched the idea of a sequel, but hey, a remake won’t hurt at all.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords

Platform: Xbox and PC
Year of release: 2004

Another classical gem from Bioware, Knights of the Old Republic II was one of the early Role Playing games to hit the Xbox after the original game, featuring many plot twists, a story that sucked you in and a combat system which was pretty innovative for its time. Combat was turn-based and the number of actions a combatant may perform each round was limited. While each round’s duration is a fixed short interval of real time, the player can configure the combat system to pause at specific events or at the end of each round. This game was a major console exclusive for the original Xbox and if there is no third game, we at least deserve a remake.

Half Life

Platform: PC, Playstation 2, Dreamcast
Year of release: 1998

It’s been a decade since it was released on the PC and this game still stands out as the pioneer of modern first person shooter games. Featuring puzzle and combat related game play elements and the first game to have seamless integration between levels, in the sense there were no levels, but the game had chapters. Taking on a helicopter and using your HEV suit to jump across long distances in high definition on the Xbox 360 would be a lot of fun. I say bring it on!

Freedom Fighters

Platform: Xbox, PS2, GameCube and PC
Year of release: 2003

A game which many of you probably have not heard of, Freedom Fighters was a third person shooter taking place in New York. The game had amazing controls and some really thrilling action combined with pure action and tactical squad combat. IO Interactive is now busy with the sequel of Kane and Lynch but a remake of Freedom Fighters just to relive the good old days will be a treat.

Mech Assault

Platform: Xbox
Year of release: 2002

Mech Assault was the first Mech game for the Xbox. I will also go ahead and say that Mech Assault actually laid the foundation for future games like Armored Core and Gundam. Nowadays most of the Mech games that get released are pretty crappy, so a remake of Mech Assault could be just what the doctor ordered. At least a remake of a classic mech game might actually save the genre from making its way to video game heaven.

James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing

Platform: Xbox, PS2 and GameCube
Year of release: 2004

Quite simply THE best Bond game ever to grace the video games industry. Everything or Nothing was a perfect example on how to make a 007 game and most importantly getting it right. The game featured some of the most amazing gadgets, some stunning chase sequences and action that will keep you at the edge of your seat. Considering the fact that the last Bond game was a below average effort, a remake of this game on the Xbox 360 could just be every James Bond fan’s dream.
