The more we hear about Assassin’s Creed Origins, the more excited we become for the upcoming game. It sounds like it is taking all the right cues from games like The Witcher 3 in terms of dynamism and emergent gameplay, and there’s new information every day to suggest that those might be the strongest points of the game. We have some more updates today as well.
Assassin’s Creed Origins director Ashraf Ismail, who earlier served as the game director for the excellent Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, recently took to Twitter to answer a number of questions asked by fans. One fan asked about the NPCs that are the archers mounted on horses, and whether their occurrence and their routines are scripted or dynamic. Ismail confirmed that the behaviour of the horse archers is indeed dynamic, and their “agendas” will even change based on what happens to and around them while they are on the road.
Ismail also confirmed while answering another fan question that once you’re done with the introduction sequence of the game, it is possible to fully max out your character’s level and skill tree without completing all the missions. This means that the game will basically give you the complete freedom to do whatever you want and go wherever you want to go – or something similar to a large extent – which will allow you to customize your character the way you see fit. In a third tweet, Ismail later confirmed that hand-to-hand combat – bare handed and without any weapons, basically – will also be in the game.
Assassin’s Creed Origins launches on 27 October for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Stay tuned for continued coverage on the game.
