Assassin’s Creed Origins Runs At 4K Resolution on Xbox One Scorpio- Rumor

If that’s native 4K, then that is amazing…

When we reported that Assassin’s Creed Origins information had leaked earlier today, we also reported that the game will be Scorpio optimized. The full extent of those optimizations is now known- according to Game Informer [via DualShockers], the game will be running in 4K resolution on the Xbox One Scorpio on a ‘consistent’ framerate (whatever that last bit means).

Of course, 4K isn’t always 4K- do they mean native 4K, or upscaled 4K? Because the former, for a modern AAA open world game, is an amazing feat, especially when you consider that Assassin’s Creed games are no graphical slouches to begin with. The latter, while still impressive, is obviously not that impressive.

I imagine we will be learning more about this in the coming days- E3 is almost here at all. Stay tuned to GamingBolt, and we will keep you updated on all the latest news on this game, and more.

Seems about right. If AC Syndicate was 2880×1620 30 fps as an afterthought on PS Pro then you’d think 3840 × 2160 30 fps is achievable on Scorpio for the new AC game.

    It’ll be native 4K IMHO.
(Why wouldn’t it be? It’s probably just the base game up-rezzed to 4K with better AF and a couple of other little tweaks).

Awesome. Too bad about PS4 Pro. Such a disappointing console. No native 4k resolution; no native 4k textures; no native 4k game capture; and no native 4k blu-ray support.

Scorpio is just the obvious option. A PS4 Slim for $200 is fine to play Sony’s exclusives but there’s not much reason to buy a Pro or to buy multiplats on Pro. MS simply built a far better product.

    • Mark

The features in Scorpio are looking too dam good to me. Watching my gaming highlight clips I make in 4k at 60 frames alone is nuts

    • JuneMas

It only does 4K 30fps for game DVR.

    • Mark

Last I read from W Central is that it’s 4k/60. I’d accept a recent link that says otherwise tho. Since Microsoft didn’t talk about the capture card at E3, I’m curious now. But I’m sticking with Jez atm

There are plenty of games that run in 4K on the PS4 Pro, the problem is that Sony marketed the console as a 4K device. Sony also just added a second identical GPU and boosted tree CPU speed and slightly increased memory bandwidth. They could’ve added more ram but for what ever reason opted only to add 1GB of DDR3 for background usage allowing only 1 additional GDDR5 ram module for game devs over the base PS4.

    • DA-ROOSTER

      XboxScorpio
      9GB GDDR5 available for developers
      Vs
      PS4 PRO
      5.5GB GDDR5 available for developers
      The PS4 PRO is a half-baked attempt at a mid-generation console upgrade

    • Mr Xrat

Kirk’s damage control, one year strong and still boring.

    • JuneMas

I know the specs of each console, I build computers as well as staying in tune with digital foundry and other reputable sites. Major Nelson blog had Phil Spencer on once discussing the innards of Scorpio. Sony should have added more ram for sure.

    • sergeantnorider

Exactly. People keep focusing on the t-flops but the thing that really hurts the Pro is the lack of memory. Scorpio literally has more RAM available for games than Pro has in its entire system. Then when you compare the memory bandwidth its over. Even if Pro could do native 4K on the latest AAA blockbuster, it still wouldn’t have the memory to handle the 4K textures or improved lighting or geometry. Add in the fact that it lacks system level downsampling, free sync, etc and its just too much. I was dead set on buying a Pro when God of War comes out but I just can’t justify spending $100-150 more on Pro. A PS4 Slim is fine. Hopefully PS5 takes fewer shortcuts.

    • Smart guy

Actually it’s not 4k it’s an attempt but not 4k. Sorry man that’s a fact

    • JuneMas

I’m not a bandwagon fan, I actually prefer my Xbox due to playing on live with family the most since 2007. I will be buying the Scorpio and give my current X1 to my nephew. PS4 Pro does have native 4K games and yes they have lots more that use checkerboard method. Sony shouldn’t have marketed as a 4K device with such a marginal increase in power. Scorpio did great in GPU CU’s and increased speed and great in added memory bandwidth but on the cpu side it is a marginal increase as well. Scorpio release wool be good for Pro owners though as more devs will now tune games for both mid gen refreshes.

    • Smart guy

That’s what I keep saying. I returned the pro the next day because it wasn’t worth it. Thats a FACT ppl!

  • DA-ROOSTER

    Assassin’s Creed Origin native 4K

Assassin’s Creed Origin will probably run at 1080p or 1440p on the pathetic PS4 PRO
