arkham knight pc version dx10

The PC port of Batman: Arkham Knight is a complete, total, absolute mess. It is an embarrassment to everyone involved. But the true extent of just how terrible it is is still being understood. For instance, today, a reader of DSO Gaming sent them an image, showing the keyboard OSD of MSI’s Afterburner program. The image shows that MSI Aftterburner is not running when Nvidia’s Gameworks are for the game- a troubling discrepancy, since everything seems to run fine with Gameworks off.

In normal people terms, that discovery has led to the realization that the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight switches down to DirectX 10 every time Nvidia Gameworks effects are turned on. If that sounds like satire to you, I wish it was- but it’s true, and it’s hilariously sad.

At this point, it seems that the port is just fundamentally broken. Whereas one should never say never, I do wonder whether it can even be fixed at this stage.

How to permanently fix your 3000 dollar PC…..

Sell up and buy a console.

    • theduckofdeath

The PC is not the problem. Console devs (Iron Galaxy) making PC games are…and publishers. Don’t get me started on the publishers.

    • Ricoh123

It’s not the devs fault, it’s the lack of incentives of developing on a platform that is not standardised and full of revenue loss due to piracy.

    • AngryGod

Pure console-warrior propaganda. Please check the facts about piracy on consoles before talking.
Of course, a bad port is totally and undiscutably the devs’ fault (and publishers’s for choosing a small and unexperienced team to do the work on a AAA title).

    • Ricoh123

      Sure, sure.

In the meanwhile, you’re making excuses and have software that doesn’t work, and I’m playing a game that simply works.

    • leanton31

Well, most AAA games are better to seriously better on PC, so it is actually the devs’ fault. Examples: The Witcher 3, Crysis 3, Far Cry 4 etc. So there goes your argument.

    • AngryGod

Oh, you sent me an answer, so cute <3
Have fun with your console, I just don't feel the need to demonstrate that my choices are better than others'. But because you seem to care, please note that my Steam version of BAK works fine, and is really nicer (and cheaper) than my brother's console version 🙂

No no by all means please do start. 3…2…1…GO!

Heh. No. The other games working completely fine are no reason to sell my $600 machine that plays games much better than consoles.

See, unlike you console shills with your broken games. PC Gamers demand accountability and used Steam Refund (Something console shills will never get) and sent a message that this is not acceptable.

I’ve been buying physical copies and returning them for simply not liking them for 20 years.

Digital policies have only just caught up from decades ago.

Plus, I can trade my physical copy in years after I bought it.

      Your system is eons old.

    • Mike Norris

Dude you are the shill, you do understand for developers and publishers it’s best for them to make damn the console version are running well.Since the Pc version will have the lowest sells thanks to piracy.I don’t even know why AAA games make it over to Pc their is no money to be made. All of this coming from a Pc player that buys something like 4-10 games a month on his Pc. Being an Pc elitist is more than enough for me to dislike everything you type.

      Deal with it, console shill.

Are we certain the MSI software is correct? There should be additional ways to confirm, or refute, this claim. (Although, there is NO refuting that the game seems to be fundamentally broken, regardless.)
