DICE on Battlefield 3 being visually compared with Uncharted 3

Battlefield 3 is perhaps, the most anticipated shooter due for release this year. The footage that has been released so far, promises the world to gamers and it’s only fair that expectations are at an all-time high for it, to deliver.

So, how does it stack up against other upcoming games this year which have an AAA status behind them, such as Uncharted 3? Comparisons are inevitable but DICE’s executive producer, Patrick Bach isn’t a man to shy away from responding to such questions.

In an interview with CVG, when asked how the console version of BF3 compare against games such as Uncharted 3, Bach gave an confident reply:

I’m not too worried to be honest. I think we will be, if not the best-looking console game this year, up there with the competition. Honestly we’re not even trying to compare it, we’re just comparing to ourselves right now because if we were to look at other console games I don’t think we’d get the quality we are striving for. My goal is of course to prove it rather than talk about it, but I wouldn’t worry too much because I think it will look amazing.

From what we’ve seen so far, he isn’t speaking for nothing, however only time will how the console version of BF 3 stacks up against Uncharted 3, who’s known to be a visual beast in the making.

Whatever it is, gamers are in for a ride this year, something which they wouldn’t have any qualms against.

Battlefield 3 releases this fall for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. A November release window has been confirmed for the game.

A pre-release demo has been confirmed for the game. Stay tuned for more updates.

  • The only way it will stand a chance against Uncharted 3 is if it looks as good as it does in the current trailers. Unfortunately, that’s entirely PC footage and the console versions won’t look as good. It might look good, but I don’t think it will hold up to Uncharted standards. Plus, Uncharted will probably be a much better overall package. For one, Battlefield is just another run-of-the-mill military FPS.

  • PC Battlefield will dominate but consoles I reckon it will be down to opinion, uncharted will look more beautiful and battlefield will look more realistic but I’m certain uncharted will have more wow moments and a general better experience from a graphical perspective.

  • Battlefield is not run-of-the-mill ANYTHING, but I agree; Uncharted 3 will most likely have higher quality graphics. It will have big landscapes and colorful vistas, and Battlefield 3 … we don’t know.

  • Drake, I was thinking that all the footage could be pc, but as its being played using a controller it mightn’t be a good representation of the product for either PC or console.

So, some of what your seeing could be console stuff.

@Nathan Drake You’re acting like you’re taking off points for the game looking good on the PC. Lol. Battlefield 3 will look better than Uncharted 3. Simple as that. Just because it’s on the PC doesn’t mean it changes comparison. So yes, everything in the trailer is actual gameplay AND looks better than Uncharted 3.

As for the consoles version. Lol. Wait until you see it. You’d be surprised. *wink*

The reason he is taking points off of it regarding PC is because PC’s have up to date processors, graphic cards and basically all tech is more up to date and it keeps on changing and becoming better. PS3 graphic cards, processors can’t be updated and changed. So comparing it fairly like the PS3 version of Battlefield 3 against Uncharted 3, Uncharted 3 would come out the better looking game.

  • Funny how Bach sounds like a douche. I agree with Drake, the graphics are good in bf3 but uncharted 3 will have way better campaign. That’s a fact. I’m getting kind of tired of fps war games.
