We recently got a chance to sit down with Marcus Nilsson of Slightly Mad Studios, executive producer of Shift 2: Unleashed and we talked about how the project was coming along till now.

Being a racing sim game, it’s obvious that comparisons with games like Forza Motorsport and Gran Turismo would be drawn. We drew the very same comparisons, and Nilsson told us he believes Need for Speed: Shift 2 Unleashed will “change the racing simulation genre forever.”

“We are actively working to make the simulation genre more exiting and accessible,” he said. “We have a clear goal, deliver the true drivers experience.”

He said he believed the genre needed “new energy” and that the Shift sub-series will soon be the number 1 racing sim franchise. “I truly believe this genre needs new energy, new fresh blood to make it stand out again and I think we are on the money with Shift 2 Unleashed and we will carry on building this franchise to become no 1.

There is also room for several players in this market and with us climbing up there to the top hopefully the added competition will generate more innovative products in this genre.”

Before signing off, he told us that “[Shift 2: Unleashed] changes the racing simulation genre forever.”

Stay tuned, we will have the full interview up soon.

Damn those are BOLD, BOLD comments, because although GT5 has its issues, it is still a technical, graphical masterpiece! I’m not a big racer fan, but i have played GT5 and it looks incredible, now i’m kinda excited for this game at least to see how it does, how it looks, and how it will compare to the other ones. Not to forget that forza is also a very good game as much as i hate to give credit to MS lol. Aqua Out!!!

Why would u look foward to this crap boi lol major poopy ill stick need for speed hot persuit which is its best racing game “0 pass on this!

  • Need for Speed: Shift was more arcade racer than simulation so if Shift 2 is “more accessible” then we have a pretty good idea what type of racer it will be. HINT: pure arcade physics.

  • Hey r u stupid or just cant read? He says “changes the RACING SIMULATION genre forever” when did burnout and hot pursuit become simulation games you idiots!

  • ^IDIOTS. He isn’t even talking to arcade kiddies like you guys. He is saying that Shift 2 might change the SIMULATION genre. Shift 1 was awesome for those who have driven a car to it’s limit before (in real life kids). The driving and racing experience in SHIFT are miles ahead GT5, even though they still have to get the physics and FFB right. I enjoy GT5, but it’s missing the brutal feeling of being in a racecar (yes, I have driven one) and pushing you and yourself to the limit with challanging AI. If they focus on delivering what the hardcore simfans want, I believe they can do it.
