Ah fishing. Such an understated, under-appreciated but vital aspect of so many games- especially sand box open world ones. Far Cry 5, like so many other games that are open world, will feature a full-fledged fishing mini game, and thanks to a video on IGN, we have new details on what it’ll be like and how it will function.

Here come the details: it’s pretty much a regular fishing mini game. You have to use bait, you have to reel in the fish, you have to make sure there’s not too much tension on your line, you have to make sure you don’t break anything. There’s a huge variety of fish to get your hands on, varying in sizes and colour and type.

Survival in the open world of Montana is obviously going to be a big part of the Far Cry 5 gameplay loop, so sustenance is going to be important no matter how it’s done, including by fishing. Far Cry 5 launches in February of 2018 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC. Stay tuned for continued coverage on the game.
