Adhesive Games’ free-to-play shooter HAWKEN is getting a live-action series to debut in 2013, courtesy of Warner Premier and DJ2 Entertainment.

Touted as Romeo & Juliet meets District 9, DJ2’s Dmitri Johnson confirmed the web series will launch in 2013. He then went on to explain how DJ2 came to be producing the series:  “I assumed someone already got it because it was so huge. Big names were chasing this – A-list directors and big hit agencies.”

HAWKEN’s creative director Dan Devon also explains the premise of the series: “They witness an event that suggests there is more to the nano-virus than meets the eye. Now the race is on to discover the virus’ origins and true purpose before their respective clans wipe each other out in a final, climatic battle.”
