It’s hard not to compare upcoming sequels to their predecessors, so here’s some screens comparing what we’ve seen of Modern Warfare 3 with Modern Warfare 2. We already know that MW3 is set to have a globe-trotting campaign on a whole different level to MW2 so, even though the environments comparison is intriguing, we know MW3 will have much more to offer in that department as it nears release. The other shots that focus on various weapon comparisons show off a new level of lighting realism in MW3. In comparison to number two, the guns in MW3 all reflect the stages lighting in far more realistic and visually pleasing ways. As if you needed any more reasons to get excited about the next Call of Duty.

So far, i have no reason to be excited for the next Call of Duty. Because at the same time, Battlefield 3 is bringing more to the table than a better scope reflection.

  • Luke, does it matter? BF3 is going to be great, there’s no doubt–but will it run well on consoles?
I mean, it may run on dev consoles–which are the same thing but run slightly better–but trailer and gameplay footage is going to be much different from actual, in-home gameplay. Look at Crysis 2, you know what I mean? Great graphics, runs terribly because the console can’t handle it. BF3’s going to either do the same thing, or lower texture qualities, add texture streaming, and lower overall delivery to something like 720P (much like MoH). I’m not saying anything’s bad about the overall build quality of the game, but I don’t think it’ll hold up to expectations on consoles, much like games such as Brink and Crysis 2 have shown us. We need a new console.
