Speaking with Develop, Crytek co-founder, Avni Yerli confirmed that the studio will be announcing a brand new project at e3 this year, which the studio’s UK wing has been working on for quiet a while.

He said the new project will make the people and the gaming industry in UK in general, extremely happy:

The way the studio is set up means we don’t have to tell them what to do – the thinking is more about what we [Crytek management] can do to help them get on with their own work. We come to mutual conclusions on projects, and I think at E3 this year – or just after – we are going to make a big announcement that I think people will be happy about. I think the gaming scene and the UK scene are going to be very pleased with the new project they’re working on.

He also said, that Crytek UK, who’re making the game, are a group of extremely talented people right now:

I wonder if there will be another Far Cry, I loved the first but wasn’t overly impressed with the open world of the 2nd, I found the game got way to boring and didn’t finish it.

I had the same impression about the sequel, I was hoping for alot more variety in the world but… it was a good game nonetheless.

Unfortunately Ubisoft owns the Far Cry brand now so it can’t b that. The 2nd game was developed by Ubi Montreal so that’s y it felt so different. Crytek UK is what was formerly Free Radical (TimeSplittters, Haze). A new TimeSplitters would b great but not sure who owns that brand.

I like the air of mystery surrounding this, then again it could end up being a game title they’re ressurecting from the grave that not everyone will be excited about like Twisted Metal did last year. Fingers crossed for something good and extremely epic.
