Nintendo Hoping To Sell 2 Million Nintendo Switch Units In March 2017

What does that indicate about the Switch, I wonder?

It sounds like Nintendo is expecting to hit the ground running with their upcoming Switch system- in their latest financial report today, Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima shared a forecast for Switch sales by the end of FY 2016-17. And apparently, by March 31, 2017, Nintendo is hoping to sell 2 million units of the Switch. Given that the Switch is launching in March itself, that means that Nintendo hopes to sell 2 million units of the system in its first month on the market.

This also seems to indicate that the Switch may be launching a bit later in March, towards the end, as opposed to earlier. It also suggests that the price of the Switch is on the higher end- even the $250 Nintendo 3DS was forecasted to move 4 million units back in 2011. An argument is to be made that Nintendo have learned better since then, and that is reflected in their forecast- but who can tell?

The Nintendo Switch will be launching globally in March 2017.
