There still isn’t a lot known about the Nintendo NX but there are some new rumors floating around about the power of this new console. One of the things that has kept the Wii U from reaching its full potential is that the hardware simply wasn’t strong enough to compete with the PS4 and Xbox One. If these new rumors, about demos only being able to run on PCs with “cutting-edge” chips it would mean that the NX might indeed be a stronger console than Nintendo has worked on before.

This report comes on the heels of another report that the NX is going to be using top of the line hardware. The Wall Street Journal is the one leading the charge about the demos being done on some rather high level PCs. “Several people who said who have seen a demo said what they saw is impossible to run on a computer without a “industry-leading” or “cutting-edge” chips. Cutting-edge in what way, they refused to elaborate. And an important thing to remember, probably you know well already, is that chip specs won’t be finalized until much closer date to the release,” Takashi Mochizuki, the author of the original article WSJ reportedly stated to Nintengen.

The fact that the people in the know won’t elaborate on just what cutting edge means is certainly interesting. It’s possible that Nintendo has sworn these people to secrecy. Maybe those in the know aren’t really sure just how much of what is being tested is going to go into the finished product. Whatever the reason, Nintendo has done a very good job of not letting anyone know just what this console is going to bring. It seems we’re moving a bit closer to learning just what the NX has to offer.
