Can you guess what it does?
Sony have released PS4 system update 4.07, and I’ll give you three guesses to figure out what it does- although I think that’d be two guesses too many. Yes, that’s right- ladies and gentlemen, the new system update is the latest in a long line of tradition of system stability firmware updates.
The patch notes just note that the update ‘improves the quality of the system performance;’ given that the PS4 has not yet been hacked, it is likely that Sony have fixed some bugs and made some optimizations behind the scenes. In any case, the update is small and doesn’t take too long to install, so it not doing much visible stuff is more easily excusable.
As for the next major feature rich PS4 update? I would guess that it will come around August next year- at this point, Sony have settled into a pattern with their firmware updates, and that is clear to see- a new major version is released in August, and then Sony works on refining that for the rest of the year.
