The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Hard Mode Will Get Its Own Save Slot

You can play through the game again without deleting all your progress!

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild does almost everything that it sets out to do extremely well- except for the whole save slot problem it has. It only gives you one save slot per user profile. If you want to replay the game, you either have to delete your old save data, or you have to create a new profile on your Switch to play the game.

It’s an annoying, pointless limitation, but it is one that will be addressed at least somewhat with the upcoming DLC for the game nonetheless. The Master Trials expansion for the game adds a hard mode dubbed the ‘Master Mode’, which gets its own save slot, separate from the main game- which means you can play through the game again on your own profile, without having to delete your 200 hours of progress so far. Yay!

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is available on Nintendo Switch and Wii U. The Master Trials expansion launches on June 30 for both systems.
