Ubisoft: We Have Other Surprises For Nintendo NX That We Will Announce Later

What could they be?!?

nintendo nx

Ubisoft haven’t made much of a secret of the fact that they are actually fairly excited and on board with the NX, Nintendo’s upcoming enigmatic new system that it increasingly seems will be a handheld and console hybrid. It makes sense- the company has always been at the forefront of supporting new technologies, including Nintendo’s own DS, Wii, Wii U, and 3DS, and they’ve ended up doing very well each time (even on Wii U, where they were one of the most successful third party publishers).

So their excitement for the NX is at least founded, and has a base. Now, in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Ubisoft’s head of EMEA Alain Corre expressed his enthusiasm for Nintendo’s new machine, and its potential implications for the market, and also hinted that Just Dance won’t be the only game the publisher brings to the system.

“We announced that we’re developing Just Dance for NX and we have other surprises that we will announce later, but we also believe Nintendo has the power to reinvent the way families are playing,” Corre said. “Nintendo is a fantastic powerhouse of brands that are really cherished by a lot of fans and families… I am still impressed by the reoccurrence of success and appetite even today for the Nintendo franchises on the current system.”

Of course, it remains to be seen to what capacity the NX will be supported by Ubisoft- it’s entirely possible it becomes a dumping ground for more casual and family oriented fare, instead of the kind of high end AAA support that many are honestly expecting and would rather accept.

The Nintendo NX is due to be fully announced and revealed come September, so we should know soon enough either way.

“We announced that we’re developing Just Dance for NX and we have other surprises that we will announce later”
Translation Just Dance 2………..no thanks Ill Pass Nintendont!! bought my Wii U November 18, 2012….launch with Zelda hopes… I think most feel the same …lost hope in Nintendo. I own all the consoles and was stupid enough to buy the WII U, “hoping” for Zelda etc. Now I dont even care anymore……watch some Nintendo Fanboy will respond to my negative post like”The WII U is great with excellent 1st party support and dont worry you will get Zelda for the WII U just wait.
Just wait? Yeah right with the purchase of the NX…..Fanboy will say But but, you can get it on the Wii U too…..

    NO MORE FOOLING NINTENDO
Why do Nintendo freaks defend this attitude from Nintendo? Seriously? Fool me once Nintendo SHAME ON YOU, Fool me again Nintendo Shame on Me……Im not going to be fooled!…………..Que the Fanboys to attack me and my comment! come on, I know you’re out there you know who you are, the ones that only own a Wii U and not an Xbox One or PS4.

Anyone want to see what the NX is based off of..HERE YOU GO: https://shield.nvidia.com/tabl
I firmly PREDICT the NX will be $199 because it uses old chips. Thanks but no thanks Ill stick with my PS/Xbox and when they come out with NEO/Scorpio ill be upgrading to theirs….and the the Nintendo NX Shield lol

    • Console and PC Master Race

I have a lot of money to burn so I’ll buy Neo, Scorpio and NX (although if it’s $200 that’s pocket change anyway).

    • Hans Olo

Ill get Scorpio/Neo….since Nintendo really upset me im personally boycotting the NX and all their systems until they make a decent system gimmick free.

    • Console and PC Master Race

I hear you there, you do have a point. Can’t really go wrong with Scorpio or Neo from what I can tell. NX on the other hand, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s another disgrace. I don’t like the gimmicks either and I’d prefer more power than what it’ll likely have. Good for you for boycotting it. I’m only going to get it because I don’t wanna miss out on some of their first party games. Still won’t be all that happy or impressed with it though, no doubt.

    • Hans Olo

Finally… someone with a great reply and understanding!..Thanks!

    • Mohammad Yasin

power is irrelevant so your saying you want a console with power with no games its all about the games power is irrelevant its about the gameplay

    • Console and PC Master Race

You’re partially correct, imo. Scorpio will have no games (and what it will have will be on PC also), but PlayStation on the other hand, it has power AND games. I agree though, power is nice but gameplay trumps. If the game isn’t fun and gameplay is no good, what’s the point?

    • Mohammad Yasin

We don’t play hardware we play games is it that hard to grasp power is nothing without the games to play would u rather have a game with good story and gameplay or would u rather have the power with a lack in content oh but its ok cuz we can see the detailed dirt or nose hair. Im sorry but that’s retarded.

    • Console and PC Master Race

There’s no reason why we can’t have great graphics and framerates, plus good stories and gameplay. Why not have both? Please don’t use the word “retarded” with me because it isn’t necessary. Did you not even read where I agreed that if one must choose, gameplay trumps graphics? Then you come back and argue with me and were kind of rude.

    • Hans Olo

I agree with your posts, and Mohammed writes everyone and calls them retarded or a dumbass to anyone that has an opinion he doesnt feel suits his beliefs or Nintendo Chekc out his hateful Disqus profile.: @disqus_7yQenktFbu

    • Mohammad Yasin

No it won’t be a disgrace don’t say that

    • Console and PC Master Race

I didn’t say NX will be a disgrace, I said the Wii U is. The sales for that console speaks for itself.

    • Hans Olo

Mohammed Yasin the scum named after a pedophile also accused me of calling the NX a Wii in this post. The guy has anger issues trolling around sites calling me and others a dumbass. Check out his Disqus profile for proof. see here: @disqus_7yQenktFbu

    • Mohammad Yasin

why would they use tegra if they have a good relation with amd your a dumbass Nintendo has never used tegra

  • Hans Olo

Bottom line why would anyone want to buy an NX when all it is graphically is WII.5……which is closer to 360.5 and PS3.5 ???? Here is Proof…..NX WILL BE WII U.5 …or in closer terms…. Ps3.5 It appears to be using a Tegra K! graphics chip, which is found in Nvidias Shield home console. So It may be on par with Wii U…or a slight upgrade…The Nvidia Tegra K1 was suppose to offer PS3/360 graphics on par…but that was in 2015. So the NX may be running a lil faster than PS3…..think PS 3.5 http://www.eurogamer.net/artic… It will not be PS4/xbox one level or better. Nintendo it seems is not interested in making games to their full potential….before you Nintendo fanboys attack me, Ill say this…imagine the new Zelda and its potential if it was running on a powerful system with specs like PS4.5 Scorpio?? It appears the NX wil be on par with WII U.5 so once again Reggie Fils Aime is correct…they arent interested in teralfops or graphics. Why would anyone want to buy an NX that bought a WII U when the WII U has no games Seen here: http://kotaku.com/the-wii-u-ha… Furthermore Ill pass on the NX….which is just a WII U.5…compared to a PS3.5 Looks like Nintendo screwed up…Again.
BTW The WII U HAD NO GAMES…….”The Wii U Has No Games”, PROOF…….. http://kotaku.com/the-wii-u-has-no-games-a-study-1784419013

    • Ante

      The Games……..

    • Ty Brown

The WiiU had some of Nintendo’s best games. Also, people buy Nintendo systems for the games alone. It doesn’t need to be ridiculously powerful. Their games sell hardware, which is easy to tell due to the games that finally started coming out from 2014-2016.

    • CUCKOLD

Its using tegra X1 … Not K1.. The X is stronger than WiiU.

    • Nintengods

      The meltdowns continue

      Nintendo always wins, baby

    • Kniggsn

Also, if it’s a handheld with more power than the WiiU…I think that’s pretty good, isn’t it? And with the docking station the power could be increased further.

    • Mohammad Yasin

its not a handheld its 2 separate consoles that work like siblings and have a shard os

    • Mohammad Yasin

Nintendo said they are departing from the wii name dumbass

    • Hans Olo

Read my post dumbass! Nowhere did I ever say the NX is going to be called a WII.
You are about as sharp as a marble. Such harsh words from a little peon!

    • Mohammad Yasin

      no games? ur high

  • Nintendo is a 40 Billion dollar company, who is now worth more than Sony. They could release about 10 more failed Wii U type systems, and still be okay. How about just sit back and enjoy the gaming show. We all want them to as good as they were in the 8 to 16 bit era, but they will never go back to those days, ever. They enjoy being different, and so do we apparently. The Wii beat both PS3 and Xbox360 (fact), and I am pretty sure their NX will will become number 1 too.

    • Samuel Mungy

It’s not worth more than Sony now (their value plummeted after people found out they didn’t make Pokemon Go). Plus, value doesn’t equal to money in the bank and I don’t where you get your calculations that they could take about 10 more Wii U type failures. Anyway, we’ll see with what happens with Nintendo. I like the rumoured details about the NX which make it out as a seriously powerful handheld. I will still hope that they get decent 3rd party support as I don’t like buying multiple systems every generation.

    • Ace_Tate

Nintendo has enough cash on hand (as of 2015) that they could lose $250 million a year and survive for 38 years

    • Samuel Mungy

Where are you getting these numbers from?

    • Samuel Mungy

and even if they could make a deficit of $250mill a year for 38 years doesn’t make it a good business practice to do so 😛 People would lose jobs, etc if that were to happen. I don’t know why people think that’s a good argument for Nintendo continuing to produce their own hardware, it’s as if the shareholders would just remain quiet while their company lose money continuously.

    • Ace_Tate

I guess Japanese companies work differently. It probably isn’t the best for their stock price. However, while the Wii U was a failure, the Wii was a massive success. So were the GBA, DS, and to a lesser extent the 3DS. More often than not, they do quite well. I’m not saying that would continue the same strategy for 38 years, but all I am saying is that they can afford a couple of failures if they also have some giant successes.

    • Mohammad Yasin

Nintendo never fires anyone except a few situations

    • Mohammad Yasin

with Mario runs announcement they went back up

    • Console and PC Master Race

Still, PS3 and Xbox 360 combined beat Wii. Didn’t Wii have about 100 million sales? Pretty sure PS360 together had about 160-170 million sales.

    • Hans Olo

      I think you are correct.

  • Hello

I think they need no large investments to make overpowered consoles(running games in a great quality would be enough). They’re strength lies within their exclusives and once they get a huge third party support, they could put a lot of pressure to their competitors.

  • ooktar

Will the surprise be that they actually plan to support it for more than a year?
