Xenoblade Developer’s Goal is to Become Like Bethesda Softworks

Which is lofty but admirable all the same.

There’s no doubt that Monolith Soft have the chops when it comes to developing RPGs. Whether it’s Xenogears (which team members were previously involved in), Xenosaga for the Playstation 2 or Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii, they’ve proven their chops time and time again. While their next project will be for the Wii U, Monolith Soft’s Michihiko Inaba and executive producer Hirohide Sugiura spoke a bit about their aspirations for the game, and how they want to show that even in this age, Japan as a gaming industry has still got it.

Inaba stated, “I’d like to make an HD game that will wow the players. I want to show that Japan can still keep up with the USA when it comes next gen technology. Our goal is to become something like the developers of the Fallout series, Bethesda Softworks.”

Sugiura said that, “I believe that today’s Japanese gaming industry has lost its touch, and we’d like to do something to change that.”

    Something that will Wow gamers on next gen systems? Too bad they’re owned by Nintendo and the closest thing they have is the WiiU which seems to be no more than on par with PS3/360.

      Idiots like you make me lose faith in the gaming community, and this is coming from a huge Sony supporter.

      Ehh, **** you. Im entitled to my opinion and my opinion is that the WiiU is an underpowered machine for “Next Gen”, the likes of which I doubt I’ll see something that wows me.

      I completely agree with you, I was actually gonna post that myself. It really is just too bad they’re hindered by the Wii U’s glorified last-gen technology, I bet they could make something glorious on the PS4. Oh well, maybe Nintendo will drop out of the hardware market or replace the Wii U with a non-crappy console early. I can dream, can’t I? ;_;

      I heard we’re already playing within the PS4 right now, that’s how good it is. Oh wait, we don’t actually know anything about it and Sony ison the verge of bankruptcy. Reality check time Sony fanboys.

      lol. Productive. Meet silly console bashing with more, eh?

    • hush404

      Lol, I think that’s a bit drastic, the WiiU is a capable system, It’s just when I hear “Omg Super awesome Next Gen visuals/game” when talking about the WiiU… I shake my head. The machine is a 7th generation powered machine. It’s really not an 8th gen machine (like what ever sony/microsoft will pump out next). Much like how the Wii was much more on par with the 6th gen (PS2, XB, GC) than it was the PS3/360. Thus, Im not attacking the WiiU for it’s games or ability to entertain, merely that “a next gen game to wow people” isn’t the correct phrasing. Unless you just ignore any forth coming console or PC game for the next 5 years.
