10 Awesome Japanese Games That Should Be Officially Released Elsewhere

Clock Tower

One of the first survival horror games and an early title to adopt multiple endings, the original Clock Tower needs an HD remake worldwide to remind us what a really scary game is all about. Mainstream horror series like Resident Evil and Silent Hill have become too action orientated over the years, so returning to play the Jennifer Simpson against the evil scissor man could be a novel and retro thrill indeed.

Namco X Capcom

With the recent release of Street Fighter X Tekken, it seems us westerners are loving the crossover game. Such a shame then that Namco X Capcom never left Japan. Before you start speculating, this one is a strategy RPG rather than a fighting game, but it has to have the largest roster of characters in any game ever made. It’s no doubt a minefield for licensing issues outside of Japan, but it would be pretty awesome to get an official localization over here via PSN/XBLA.

Miles Edgeworth: Ace Attorney Investigations 2

The Ace Attorney games, though not exactly huge sellers, have garnered a pretty impressive cult following here in the west. A spin off starring series anti-hero Miles Edgeworth managed to make its way over to our shores, bringing with it a host of improvements and new gameplay ideas. Its sequel has garnered nothing but praise from critics, yet Nintendo chose not to release it outside of Japan. It makes sense for them financially I suppose, but it still sucks we won’t see this gem in the west any time soon.
