Crysis 2 was a beautiful game, and while it was a mere patch when compared to its predecessor, when played with the DirectX 11 patch on the PC, it blew every other game out of the water, in terms of how magnificent it looked. Not only were the textures and character models and the environments very sharp and detailed, the lighting and particle effects were awesome too. To see the dust particles in a ray of light in an abandoned house or to see a sun ray scattering as it shines through the canopy of a tree was immensely breathtaking, if a little fleeting.
