Max Payne 3 ranks as one of the best third person shooters ever made, and its difficulty contributes to that significantly. Back when it launched, in fact, it was almost surprising just how challenging it was. Not unsurpassable by any means, no, but not afraid to push you to your limits on more than a few occasions. Taking cover and making use of the game’s excellent movement options is key in every single firefight, each of which strikes the perfect balance between being incredibly cinematic and incredibly tactical. What’s even more impressive is that, for the most part, all of that is true even when you play the game on its default difficulty setting.
