7. Blowing in cartridges
If you played games before the year 2000, then you have probably done this. Don’t try and deny it. It was a popular misconception with all cartridge based systems that blowing in the game cartridges would dislodge the dirt and dust that prevented your game carts from reading properly. Honestly though, blowing on them probably makes it even worse. Does that stop you from doing it? Hell no. Old habits die hard.
6. Needlessly button bashing
When has the B button ever made games load quicker? It still doesn’t prevent you from mercilleslly tapping said button, in the hope that your loading times will be ever so slightly shortened. Similar behaviours are exhibited during moments of chance. That Pokemon won’t catch easier if you button mash during the catching animation, but that won’t stop you from doing it.
5. Collecting
Even though the rewards for some of the collection quests we’ve seen can be hilariously poor and unnecessary, you still will always go for the 100% completion. Even if you admit defeat and decide not to collect all the items that the game has to offer, you’ll still go for that coin or piece of fruit if it’s within easy enough reach.
4. Staying up Late
I don’t think I’ve ever met a really hardcore gamer with a regular sleeping pattern. I can’t imagine why this is though. I can’t really see any major benefit for playing games late at night. Maybe it’s just so we have an excuse for not doing something more productive and going outside. Games could, of course, negatively influence your ability to sleep. Studies have shown that light rays emitted from TVs and monitors can affect sleep patterns, but that’s a big argument that would be better left up to the professionals.
