METRO AWAKENING
PlayStation VR2 has to be one of the most poorly supported pieces of hardware in recent memory, but it’s finally getting a game soon enough that’s looking genuinely enticing. While 4A Games is at work on the next mainline Metro instalment, the first-person shooter series is also getting a standalone spinoff in the form of Metro Awakening, developed by Vertigo Games and due out on November 7. Serving as a prequel to Metro 2033, Awakening is looking like a much more linear and claustrophobic experience than Exodus, and more in like with 2033 and Last Light, and based on what we’ve seen of it so far, it seems to be capturing the series’ post-apocalyptic horror vibes quite effectively. Hopefully the game will serve as a good stopgap until Metro 4 releases (which hopefully won’t be too far into the future).
