8. Bastilla Shan - Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

The Knights of the Old Republic games fuelled our youthful desires to become Jedi Knights but, whilst the upgrade paths were non-linear and interesting, KOTOR was a game in which you had to commit to one side of the force and one side only to truly reap the benefits. Bastilla doesn't have this issue. Not only is she a Jedi with way more experience and clout than your main protagonist, but she also gets captured and converted to the dark side partway through the game, allowing her to utilise both light and dark force powers. Hell yes.
