We don’t want to be unfair here- we do realize that Ready at Dawn’s PS4 exclusive The Order: 1886 is not without its merits. It has a fascinating setting, it has stellar production values, and it’s still one of the best-looking PS4 games we’ve ever played. But did the game live up to the high expectations that so many people had for it? No, it did not. Its cover-based third person shooting felt uninspired and generic, flying in the face of the creativity and uniqueness the game displayed from a visual and atmospheric perspective. Its short length was a major disappointment, made even worse by inconsistent storytelling that failed to do justice to an excellent setting. For a game that was looking as fresh and unique as The Order: 1886 was before its release, it ultimately turned out to be a rather tepid, forgettable experience.
