7. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
The particularly interesting part about this is that the developers may not have intended it to be weird, or frightening but it certainly was. After you’ve played for awhile and the plot reveals itself a bit more you find the Colonel is not who he says he is. He starts telling you to shut off the console, amongst plenty of other things, that is. Mostly he just talks nonsense as the game progresses.
This is particularly disturbing for some gamers because all of a sudden their world has been shifted. Here, you have this man who was leading you through the game blind and he turns out to be nothing more than a complicated A.I. who begins to break down when G.W. does in this game, as a result the Colonel acts like an a complete nut-job.
