3. Fast Travel
This ties in with my point on annoying A to B mission structures. Whilst it makes you investigate and explore the game world more, having to travel to all the different mission givers on the map can get tedious. Granted you could grab a taxi if you were really desperate, but having to find a taxi and then pay for the ride generally deterred players from fully utilizing their services. An instant and free fast travel may help speed up the pace of gameplay, and I’m sure Rockstar could make it work.
2. More Craziness
We want some more weird stuff. The kind that makes you chuckle to yourself as you pilot that Dodo plane. Lets get some laser guns and energy swords. Lets see some bizarre clown costumes. I want to feel the same odd cross of self-disgust and empowerment I felt in San Andreas as I beat that old woman to death with a dildo. GTA 4 wasn’t entirely devoid of such oddities, but there was certainly a more serious feel that GTA 5 could do with veering away from.
1. Less Serious
The Grand Theft Auto instalments up to GTA 4 were all about running around and rampaging in an arcade like environment. GTA 4 was comparatively more sober, following a story-driven narrative. I’m not saying this was necessarily a bad thing, but it didn’t feel quite like the Grand Theft Auto games of old. If I wanted a lot of story I’d consider playing a JRPG or Point and Click Adventure. GTA on the other hand has always offered quick thrills and exciting controversies that were comparatively absent in GTA 4. The characters were certainly humorous and strongly scripted, but the focus had changed. It would be nice to see the series return to its more zany roots in GTA 5.
This is just a singe opinion on what the series ought to do, but please feel free to share your own opinion with us in the comments section below.
