Move support
Just as it was patched into Heavy Rain after release, Move support is confirmed for Beyond: Two Souls. It’s safe to say that it will be supported from launch day, and it’s likely to just mimic the QTE actions as was the case in Quantic Dream’s previous PS3 effort. That’s not to decry the functionality of course. Any hardcore game that will put my Move to good use is a win, as it’s beginning to pick up dust these days.
A story with scope
We know that David Cage is capable of weaving a multi-layered narrative but, with Beyond taking place over 15 years of Jodie Holmes’ life, this could be his most ambitious project yet. Hell, it’s a pretty epic timescale by any game’s standards. Thinking over other games that take place across several years, they’re all rather exemplary, so we can only hope Beyond follows in the footsteps of games like Dragon Quest 5 and Ocarina of Time.
Unbelievable motion capture
Remember Quantic Dream’s tech demo, Kara, that they demoed at GDC this year? Well, just as the Casting Demo shown off by Quantic in 2006 would later become tech for Heavy Rain, so Kara will inform the visual capabilities of Beyond. For those who have seen Kara or Beyond, you’ll know that the tech has some mighty fine motion capture, to put even the facial animations of L.A. Noire to shame.
