KILLING BOSSES IN CUTSCENES

There’s no tricks here- some would even say this is annoying. But games do this a great deal (or used to, at any rate- JRPGs more than most, especially old school ones). You encounter a boss and slave through a gruelling fight- only, when the fight ends, even though you’ve struck the killing blow, in the cutscene that follows, that boss is still very much alive. The killing blow, then, comes in that cutscene- back when technology was more limited and games were incapable of rendering cinematic action during gameplay, games resorted to having those scenes play out in cinematics.
