DYNAMIC DIFFICULTY
Though adaptive or dynamic difficulty can be a bit of a double-edged sword, for those who’re struggling, it can be present great advantages. Mario Kart titles are a great example of dynamic difficulty at work in games. The lower position you find yourself in during a race, the better items you will get. Languishing at the tail end of the rankings? The game hands infinite mushrooms and power up stars to you freely. Cruising along in the higher positions? All you can hope for is items like banana peels, green shells, and coins.
If the game finds that you’re dying a lot, or taking a lot of damage, or have horrible accuracye (or a deadly combination of all of the above), it’ll automatically knock down the difficulty, making enemies easier to take down.
