In Far Cry 3, Jason could hide in the bushes to avoid the enemies gaze. Rockstar implemented the same mechanic in GTA 5, though I’m not sure if they took the inspiration from Far Cry 3 but it is a helpful mechanic nevertheless. Whenever you are on the run from the Los Santos police department, you can always count on foliage to hide you.
