In a classic attempt to showcase the meaning of sacrifice, Lucas Arts thought it would be ok for Starkiller to trash Vader and go toe to toe with Darth Sidious and then ultimately die in the process when he clearly had the upper hand in ending the Sith. But the rebellion makes his family emblem into the sign for the resistance, which by the way is never mentioned in the last three episodes of the movie. Well I should be happy, because that ending clearly beats the Dark side ending, which is even weirder.
