GOD OF WAR
God of War might not necessarily be an open world game, but no one can deny that the game’s world is big by any metric. Sure, a lot of that real estate is covered in water, but even if you take those parts away, the interconnected nature of its many locations and density of each of its environments gives the game the impression of being larger than many had anticipated it would be. The “hub and spoke” design style has become ubiquitous in games over the years, but there are very few games out there that implement as well as God of War does.
