Alisa
More PS1-style polygonning on this rundown, Alisa captures the late-90s survival horror aesthetic brilliantly but delivers it in a whimsical 1920s flavour. Our protagonist Alisa – a stand-in for Alice in Wonderland perhaps – is an Elite Royal Agent chasing a wanted criminal through a Victorian mansion-come-sordid dollhouse. The mechanised doll-like humanoid enemies provide a sense of eccentricity to proceedings, with developer Casper Croes presumably not wanting players to take Alisa too seriously. That said, there’s a strong visual identity running throughout alongside vintage survival horror mainstays like pre-rendered backgrounds and fixed camera positions. Alisa is available on Steam for PC and Mac with a free demo downloadable.
