Heartworm
As pure a love letter to PS1 era low-poly horror as any on this rundown, Heartworm’s VHS wash is not its undoing but its strength; all manner of disturbing monstrosity could be lurking in the pixelated fog of its haunted suburbia. An imitation of Lara Croft suddenly finding herself in Silent Hill perhaps, Heartworm’s protagonist Sam pursues her obsession with death through the twisted labyrinth of a creepy abandoned house with a supposed connection to the afterlife. Expect cinematic fixed camera angles, retro 3D graphics, and a chilling soundtrack to accompany Sam as she rediscovers the memories she’d rather forget.
