Echoes of the Living
Echoes of Resident Evil 2… umm… sorry, Echoes of the Living is as on the nose a remake of Capcom’s iconic 1998 title as any survival horror in the development pipeline. However, there is a point of differentiation, current-gen graphics and fully 3D environments notwithstanding. For instance, the game takes place in small town Europe… that’s it; everything else is lifted straight out of the Resident Evil 2 playbook. There’re dual protagonists, Laurel – herself a deputy cop – and Leon… uhh, Liam, who must team up via branching storylines to rescue their loved ones and escape the infection presently reanimating corpses. All joking aside, it’s clear there is heaps of passion going into this project from two-person studio MoonGlint, with an authentic old school survival horror experience the result. Expect Echoes of the Living to drop Q4 2023. PC via Steam is the only platform announced thus far, and there is a free demo available to download right now.
