12. Metal gear Solid – Not all threats are empty.

Metal Gear Solid was one of the few games that provided a solid gameplay and went on to become one of the most successful game series. But The first game had us truly enraptured as we embarked on a journey with the truly solid ‘Solid Snake’. Since we really thought we were the true hero of the age, we never thought of refusing Ocelot’s torture.

Turned out that Ocelot wasn’t bluffing about taking Meryl’s life and the realisation came after we were hooked to the strange contraption. A bunch of wrong decisions and the game did make us pay. With the deaths of the people at our hands that we never wanted to leave our sides. For some of us, that was the first moment into just how far some games can take you into the chasm of self loathing.
