8. Black Ops 2 – Damn you, Treyarch.
Treyarch has had a reputation for being nasty. Weird, creepy and brutal kind of nasty. While the alien gun in World at War had us all squawking “Awesome!” and so did the zombies in Black Ops, Treyarch chose to reveal more of its brash side. And quite successfully. Black ops 2 has David “Section” Mason, Alex Mason’s, son hopping around with his JSOC operative Mike harper listening to good old Woods’ tale of mischief, pain and strife all the while having Section and harper teaming up, killing the baddies and doing the usual heroic work in the sinfully crafted twisted plot of revenge, revelations and respite from world domination.
In the campaign mission named “Achilles’ Veil”, we get hold of a playable character named Farid who apart from being a technical assistant to the SEALS is an undercover operative trying to acquire Menendez’s trust and faith. Towards the end of the mission, Farid rendezvouses with Menendez, while the latter promptly shoots down Harper’s VTOL hovering nearby. And after Harper’s dragged out, it is upto us to choose between shooting Harper or shooting Menendez and blowing our cover. For the sake of the integrity and momentousness of the task at hand, with trembling hands, we along with a lot of our brethren around the world had to shoot Harper. Consequences or not, it was one act that still makes us feeble and our knees go all funny.
