The Mushroom Kingdom – Super Mario Odyssey

The globetrotting and out of this world journey that Mario undertook within Super Mario Odyssey is not one that will be soon forgotten (You might say our hat is off to it!). But the delicious icing on top of the whole adventure was when the credits finished rolling after that glorious escape sequence, we return to find Mario and Cappy right back at home, lounging around and getting some well deserved rest before the wanderlust sets in again. It only gets better when you get to then explore the Kingdom, against nothing but the atmospheric bird chirps and the rolling green grasses surrounding the castle, so familiar from Super Mario 64.

A whole lot of this kingdom, including the retro suit you can buy there, the castle itself, and inhabitants around it such as Yoshi and Dory, musical cues such as collecting the local stars and the use of paintings call back to the revolutionary title, but leaving nobody out of the fun, games like Super Mario 3D Land, Super Mario World and Super Mario Bros all see small nods as well, all prodding the player to raise their sails and find everything.
