We had to include this one; the game which redefined first person shooting and raised the benchmark for in-game atmosphere, storytelling, and inventiveness. You’ve probably played this already but here goes a synopsis anyway: you’re Gordon Freeman, a scientist tasked with saving humanity from an interplanetary alien threat. His trusty crowbar is iconic, but the physics-based puzzling and combat coming later in the game following acquisition of the Gravity Gun is still mind-blowing to this day.
