MOTHER BASE (METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN)
The MSF’s Mother Base was blown to smithereens by Skull Face and XOF at the end of Ground Zeroes, following which Kaz and his Diamond Dogs decided to build a new, better Mother Base- and boy, did they deliver. When you’re not messing around in the open worlds of Africa and Afghanistan, there’s a lot to do over in Mother Base. You can punch soldiers in the face, only for them to actually thank you for doing so; you can check in on all the animals you rescued out in the field; you can go around listening to tapes; you can stumble upon plenty of interesting cutscenes and conversations. The Phantom Pain may not be the most cheerful game you will ever play, but Mother Base definitely feels like a place you can call home.
