GUIDING WIND (GHOST OF TSUSHIMA)
Traversal and exploration in open world games tends to be rather generic most of the times, especially in today’s day and age, but Ghost of Tsushima’s take on open world exploration is definitely an exception. The Guiding Wind is a simple mechanic on paper- instead of following waypoints or a compass or markers, you summon a gust of wind that blows in the direction of your destination. But though it may sound simple, it grounds players in the game’s world to great effect.
